SOLUTION: slow extensions installation on windows 2003

Just for those who may be having the same problem and searching for a
solution, I thought I'd post again in an easy to find manner. When Frontpage
configures the Server Extensions on a website it checks the websites parent
directory and enumerates all the folders there. If there are many folders
this slows things down dramatically.

Solution:

instead of having sites as such -

c:\inetpub\site1
c:\inetpub\site2
c:\inetpub\site3
c:\inetpub\site4

install the sites as -

c:\inetpub\site1\site1
c:\inetpub\site2\site2
c:\inetpub\site3\site3
c:\inetpub\site4\site4
c:\inetpub\site5\site5

If anyone has a neater solution I'd appreciate it!
