Long ago... (4 computers) I had Personal Web server with Front Page 97. I now
have FrontPage 2003 and cannot get my protected subweb with forms to work on
my machine since the front page extensions are not present. I have tried to
contact Microsoft, with no luck. Is there a FrontPage Personal Web Server for
2003, or am I relegated to edit my website on the remote server forever???

I have found no reference to a personal web server on theinstallation CD or
the help files.

No
FP 2003 uses IIS (not available in Win XP Home) and the FP 2002 SE

For the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions Support Center see:

1) Download FP 2002 Server Extensions:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...l/fpse02win.asp
English ones are at:
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...US/FPSE1002.exe
2) Download FP2002 Server Extensions Updates (and install in this order):
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...US/fpse1001.exe
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...US/fpse1002.exe
3) Install the Security Patch at:

My OS is Xp Pro, last week my mate setup my PC to host my site.
from reading volumes of garb I think the Server to which you refer is one of
the Windows Components which need to be activated in Add/remove progs. All to
do with the IIS setup. My server is Windows 2k
Hope this helps (don't be suprised if it is nothing to do with your post) if
so sorry.

I have installed everything, have IIS running and still the system tell me
that "You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a
web server and the Front Page Server Extensions to function properly"

I only have XP Pro and not running as a server. Do I have to purchase Server
2000 just to edit a few pages??? If that is the case, I am moving to
Dreamweaver...

Will XP Pro run comparable to the old Personal Web Server???

I just cannot edit form pages on my machine and cannot always edit on line.
It seems that Microsoft really screwed things up with IIS and by abandoning
those of us who used Personal Web Server.

XP Pro runs IIS as the web server. Did you download and install and
configure the extensions per the information in Stefan's reply?

Tom,

I followed the instructions as given and still get the message that I need
to run the page on a server running the extensions. My IIS installation does
not seem to be working or recognized by Front Page. Shoud I re-install Front
Page again???

Tom,

Another problem I am having is that when I try to extend the server, I get
the "You are not authorized..." message. I am the only user and the
administrator of this computer. This is getting worse by the minute...

Stefan,

I have followed all your steps and in the Sharepoint Administrator, I cannot
seem to expand the server. The instructions say to click the "expand"
link/button. This is not present on my choices. Is there a fix for this? I
still cannot get my forms to work on my Wondows XP Pro and everyone else I
talk to tell me I have to buy Windows 2000 Server....

Are they bullcrapping me? I was a lot happier when I had Front Page 98 and
Personal Web Server. It was simple for rookies like me.

Thanks for your help.
