I am running Front Page 2002 with Windows XP. I am trying to edit my web
site with FTP and when I try to save it I get the error: Server error: the
server extentions were unable to access the file "C:\Documents and
settings\kurt\my documents\my webs\_vti_pvt\service.lck" Please check the
file permissions. I searched on the web and found some download on microsoft
and net sites. I downloaded something and it fixed the problem but I noticed
it deleted all my documents so I had to restore to an earlier point to get
them back and back up my computer. Then I couldn't find what I downloaded
that fixed it and I didn't write down. DOes anyone have any ideas. PLEASE
HELP! I am not to computer savy either so please talk slow..

First, if you are not computer savy, then you never, never want to ftp
files to a FrontPage web. It corrupts the FP server extensions. You
must publish your pages instead: File -> Publish and follow the wizard.

So, you should have the server administrator delete the files on your
web site, and reinstall the fpse. Then you should publish your site
from scratch.
