| How do you enable the "Server" option on the "Tools"
menu. I have been having trouble publishing any pages
with counters or other FP Extention items. I was trying
on a UNIX box that was Front Page enabled. Every time I
tried it corrupted the server setup. They switched me to
new server and it is still the same. I am beginning to
think the problem is associated with this
disabled "Server" option.

| Hi, sorry this message is being answered a year after you asked. Anyway, FP server extensions for anything other than IIS is a joke. You can use the unix or linux server, however, do not enable FP server extensions on either. Simply FTP all of your files to the server, and the shared borders and navigation features will work fine.
The search and counter features will not work, because they both require IIS.
If you want to really be able to use FrontPage, upgrade your OS to Windows XP Pro and install IIS. If you have a cable modem, you can then host your own web site.
To make a registered domain name resolve to your server, first you will need to register the domain name with a registrar that has DNS services. Add your domain name to the DNS record.
This is done something like this www.yourdomain.com 24.0.0.1 and also yourdomain.com 24.0.0.1 . You need to register both, or the other one won't resolve.
Then open your Internet Services Manager, right click on the default web site, and you'll see a box that says the server will answer requests on any available IP address. To the right of that you'll see a box that says advanced. Click it, and then click add. Type in 80 in the box for the port, and then the www.yourdomain.com address. Click OK and then repeat with the yourdomain.com address.
Don't worry, it will resolve in a couple of days. It takes that long before the DNS can propogate your address to DNS servers across the internet.
If you're not sure what your IP address is in the first place, remember the the box that says answer on any available IP address? Well if you click the drop down it will show you there. This is the dynamic IP that your cable modem is providing for your machine.

| "The search and counter features will not work, because they both

That is incorrect. They will work on Unix/Linux with the FP server
extensions installed.
