Author Search component not showing on Discussion group

My remote server is using IIS 6.0 (windows 2003) with FrontPage 2002
extensions installed. My workstation is using FrontPage 2002 with Office XP
Service Pack 3 installed.
I created a discussion group site by using the discussion web wizard. I can
post and reply to messages on t5his discussion group site except the search
page. On the search page, it didn't show the search text box and the submit
button, instead it shows [FrontPage Search Component] . When I opened the
search page with FrontPage 2002, I can see the search text box and the submit
button showing on both the normal mode and the preview mode.
Please help!
Thanks

Since you are on IIS, did you create an Index catalog for the Web / DW

Yes, I did. I restarted the Indexing service after I created and configured
the catalog. The search page is still showing [FrontPage Search Component].
Any suggestions?
I found the following information from one of the replies. If this is true,
is there any way to make the search feature works?
"In Windows 2003 server, the default FP search feature is disabled. This
feature used an older method for performing searching via a seperate utility.
Part of the tightening of security in Windows 2003 has eliminated certain
items from working."

Thanks

I would recommend asking about Win2003 in the Windows newsgroup(s).

I also found the following in another newsgroup replies which the problem is
very similar to mine.
"ensure that Indexing service is allowed in the Web server
extensions in the IIS manager"
I'm not sure how to find out or enable Indexing service is allowed in the
Web Server Extansions.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

IIS 6.0 and Index Server are already installed on the web server before I
build the page with the search component. The search page was located on a
subweb under the root, and a catalog for this subweb was set up and
configured.

Hi there,
I had the same problem and finally found this article.
Indexing Service Extension Is Not Listed in IIS 6.0 on Windows Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;816969

Reinstalled indexing service. It's working now.
