Import dreamweaver designed website using FrontPage ftp

I need to add a link onto a website designed with dreamweaver (designed by
another individual). I have the ftp address, username, and password. Yet I
have been told to avoid using the import with ftp on FP because it will not
upload another program properly. Is this correct?
