Author Search engine specific folder

I have put in a search engine on the website for my company's intranet. The
search engine works great however it searches in more folders than I would
like it to. It seems to search for everything under the Default Web Site,
which includes my website folder among other things.

Is there a way to make the search engine only search within a particular
folder? I was reading stuff on catalogs, but thus far am unable to properly
implement it.

cheers!

Convert the folders that you want searched to subwebs, and put the search
component there.

Or, create a catalog in index server and customize it to search only the
areas of the site you want.
