Author Search not finding some items

I am using FP2000 search. Some searches for part numbers work, but others
that are very similar, and known to exist...even on the same page are not
found. I have re-typed the pages that have contents that are not found, but
the searches are still unsuccessful. Sometimes deleted pages are still
'found', but the link, of course, points to a non-existent page. I have
re-calculated, and uploaded all pages, not just the changed pages. Is there
a way to insure that all caches are flushed?
Is there something I need to do to get the search to find all items correctly?

You need to delete all the *.btr files and then recalculate the web. There is
a kb article about this, which I found by searching the MSKB using .btr as the
search term.

Open your live site in FrontPage and do the recalculate hyperlinks there.

Thanks for pointing me to the kb articles...which describes the exact
symptoms. I tried to delete those files and re-calculate, then re-publish,
but I still have the same problems. I am considering re-doing the web from
the start, as I have updated and tested this numerous times. Adding content
that could not be found on one page to a page where the search was
successful, was successful, but after deleting the test data, the search
still 'finds' this page...but the content is no longer there.

On the server or the folders where the web content is stored locally, I
don't have a _vti_txt folder.

Hello Kathleen,

I wasn't aware that you could recalc on the site. After doing that, the
links are now correct, and the old pages are no longer 'hit'. Thank you
very much.

I still have the original problem that certain of the part numbers cannot be
found. This is on pages that other part numbers with the same format are
found. Do you know what else could be the issue?

Can you provide a URL and a sample search term that should not show up?

www.selectronix.us
Search for SLC4000 on the SLC4000 page is successful
SLC2152,SLC2154,SLC2156,SLC2158,SLC2160,
SLC2162 on the SLC2100 page are all
successful
SLC2102, SLC2104, SLC2106, SLC2108, SLC2110, SLC2112...all fail. These are
on the same page as the SLC2152-SLC2162 part numbers.

I tried putting SLC2106 and SLC2110 on the SLC4000 page, and it found it
there, but of course, this was just a test, and the part numbers were
subsequently deleted.

I tried making a copy of the SLC4000 page, then changing all the text,
thinking there was some embedded code that was messing up the search...but no.

(This is how I messed up the links in the first place...but those errors are
corrected, thanks to you.)
