I am running Office 2003 and connecting to a Windows 2003 server. My users
web pages are a drive letter mapped like any other drive. When they want to
post a web page, they save it to their W:\ drive and it's live. One of my
users created a form to submit feedback and when you click on the submit
button, you get

FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a web
server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.

This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you publish
this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.

Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page.

My IIS 6.0 sever does have Front Page Server Extentions 2002 set to Allow.
From reading the many posts and articles, it says that you have to Publish
using http:// instead of the disk option. Other things say that you have to
have Front Page Server Extensions or Windows Share Point Services. I'm at a
loss and would appriciate any help.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

You must http publish, not copy, to a server with the extensions installed
in order for the forms to work.

Publish it how? I chose Publish and then FrontPage or SharePoint Services,
put in the URL in the Remote Website Location and then hit OK. The Error
message I get is similar to:
'Unable to open http://www.abccompany.com/reviews'.
Server error: The Web serer at "http://www.abccompany.com/reviews" does not
appear to have Windows SharePoint Services installed:
Possible causes:
1. The Web server may not have FrontPage Server Extensions installed
2. The Web server may be temporarily out of service
3. If you are connecting through a proxy server, the proxy settings may be
incorrect
4. An error mave occured in the web server

If this server does not support the FrontPage Server Extensions, FrontPage
may still be able to publish to the server via ftp of WebDAV. Please select
one of these options and try again.

How to check and see if FP Server Extensions are installed on the host
server:
http://www.dnswiz.com/fptype.htm

or, type in your website root URL with /_vti_inf.html ex:
http://www.mysitename.com/_vti_inf.html and you will see whether your site
has them installed and enabled.

My server failed the fptype test. I checked for _vti_inf.html and it doesn't
exist on my server. In the control panel, I checked and it shows that Front
Page Extensions are installed. I removed the check box, rebooted, went back
into the Add/Remove Programs and readded FP Extensions. Still no
_vti_inf.html file.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...fpse2002win.asp
states not to download the install file on a 2003 server but to use the
add/remove programs, which I did, but.....

Installing FP extensions to a web site on Windows 2003 is a three part
process:

1) Install the extensions from the Win2003 CD, which you appear to
have done.

2) Allow the extensions to operate on the server:
Open the IIS MMC and expand the "folder" tree.
Open the folder "Web Service Extensions"
In the list of Service Extensions, click on FrontPage Server
Extensions 2002 and then click the Allow button. The status should
say "Allowed"
While here, also allow any other extensions that you may use (example:
Active Server Pages, Index Service, ASP.NET)

3) Configure the extensions for the website.
From Control Panel->Administration Tools->Microsoft SharePoint
Administration
Extend your web site and complete the configuration forms.

When I try to extend the web site as in #3 below, I get an error message "The
document root of the web server where you are trying to install the server
extensions already contains a disk-based web." This web server holds several
different web sites for my organization. Extending as per #3 below gives
different results. Some say Upgrade (ver 4.0.2.2717), one says
Administration (ver 5.0.2.2623 and another has nothing on the far right but
is version 6.0.2.6353

Your suggested article got me a little closer. Since some of existing web
sites on that server wouldn't extend correctly, I tried to cheat and created
to copy the files from the working web site to all of the sub web servers
that weren't working. It looked fine on the Administration pages, but still
didn't work correctly. On the IIS Manager, I went to All Tasks and removed
the Server Extensions 2002 from the non working web sites, and then re
extended them from the Microsoft Sharepoint Admistrator link on the Admin
menu. So far so good. I tested the sub site form again and it still didn't
work. More digging go me to KB article 320872. Following those steps gives
me a new error:
FrontPage Error.
User: please report details to this site's webmaster.
Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details.

The Application log doesn't have any information in it pertaining to this
error. A quick reminder of our configuration is the server houses 10 web
sites for differnt divisions. Each division has it's own people publishing.
It's one of these sub publishers where the problem lies. So, Joe creates a
feedback form at http://www.mysite.com/joe/feedback.htm and that displays the
form for feedback just fine, but when you type in something to give feedback
on and the hit submit, you get the error above.
