I installed the IIS 6.1 on my computer and tried to update the front page
server extension for 2002 file fpse02_x86_ENG, but it give me an error
message that must have 4.0 or higher. Having downloaded and installed 6.1, I
am confused. Can anyone help?

If you are running Win 2003 server, you must install the extensions that
come with IIS6, you cannot use the download from MS...it's not compatible.

Windows XP PRO runs IIS5.1, not IIS6.1, Windows XP Home does not
support a web server with extensions. IIS5.1 is on the Windows CD.

Windows 2003 Server runs IIS6.0 - the extensions must be installed
from the Windows CD.

Where did you download IIS6.1 from?

I downloaded IIS6.1 from the microsoft downloads. This is what I'm trying to
do. I want an image to show up in a database results page from access. The
liteature was saying I needed certain extensions. Is this true? And if it is
does that mean because I have XP it won't work?

If you have Windows XP Home you cannot install a Microsoft web server.
If you have Windows XP Pro, install IIS5.1 from the Windows
installation CD
Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs->Windows Components->Internet
Information Services
Then install the extensions.
Use Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Microsoft SharePoint
Administrator to configure the extensions.

IIS6 will only run on Windows 2003.
