Impact on view counter of home-page redesign

I am in the process of redesigning my Web site's home page, which includes a
page view counter. I have been copying my original home page content into new
design tables on the new home page. I have been clicking in design view on
the old page to select content from one cell or internal table at a time and
pasting it onto the new design page, and I plan to do the same with the cell
containing my counter.
Are there likely to be any problems with continuing my ongoing counter total
on the new home page? Will the counter start at No. 1 again when I upload it,
or will it continue the ongoing count?
