When I try to publish my test website I get the following error message: "The
following pages in your website contain link bars or navigation bars that use
new formatting options. They will not display properly because the server you
are publishing to does not support these features. To enable link bars,
publish your Web site to a server running the latest version of the FrontPage
Server Extensions or SharePoint Services." I was publishing temporarily to a
Windows XP workstation, and once testing is finished I will publish to a
Windows 2003 Server. How do I determine which version of the server
extensions I am running? What's the best way to upgrade to the latest?

Open the web in FrontPage and choose Tools | Site Settings. Or enter the
following in your browser: http://www.yourdomain.com/_vti_inf.html and then
do a View | Source on that page. If the version number begins with a 4, the
site is running the FP2000 Server Extensions, if it begins with a 5, the
site is running the FP2002 server extensions. It may also begin with a 6 -
I believe that means Windows SharePoint.

Your error is because you are publishing to a Windows XP workstation as either:
- as a disc based web, or
- as server based web not running the FP 2002 SE (version 5x)

The new custom link bars require the FP 2002 SE
