Another Frontpage Extentions not installed...
|
|
|
| I am very new to frontpage and web design in general. Nevertheless, I have
constructed a site that I am attempting to publish to a server, and I am
getting the infamous "You must publish to a server with FrontPage extensions
installed..yada..yada". The things is I KNOW that FrontPage Server
Extentions 2002 are installed on the server.
Now, things you may or may not need to know:
I am using FrontPage 03 with XP.
I noticed that when I look under Tools => Site Settings, that no server is
listed and location is on my computer. I am simply saving the site here and
then publishing to the server as the remote location.
Sorry if my ignorance has caused me to leave out important info that will
result in multiple posts. I know this is a common problem but I just can't
find where I am going wrong!
Thanks in advance,
Pete

| What is the complete error message? Yada..yada does not convey much
information.

| FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a web
server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.
This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you publish
this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.
Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page.

| Are you trying to have the form send to an email address? If so, have you
had your host enable the forms to email transport?

I want to include forms that post to a database as well, will I have the

| As I asked, have you contacted your host to enable the forms to email
transport? It must be done on the host server.

| Well, I have contacted him, but he didn't seem to know what I wanted. He
seemed to think that I needed to do it to the forms that I am editing, which
you have stated is not the case. I also have access to the host server, so
if there is anywhere I can gain the knowledge to do this I will just do it
myself. I get the same message when I try to integrate a database connection
as well.

| That message comes from _derived/nortbots.htm.
nortbots stands for NoRunTimewebBots and
only appears in four cases:
1) You are testing on a disc-based website, including a FrontPage
disc-based web that is being browsed through a web-server.
2) You are testing on a website that does not have server extensions
installed or running
3) The site (or form page) was FTPed from a disc-based web, or
published using a FTP address for the destination. Publish must be to
a URL of the form http://example.com
4) There is a bug associated with FrontPage98 which causes this
problem.
Look carefully at 3).
