frontpage save results component

| I had my website working fine with sending e-mail. Then suddenly it stopped.
When I save a page I get the normal message about FP extentions. However,
now all of my e-mail forms show "FrontPage Save Return Component", I get a
different message when I save the pages regarding the software developers
kit. Also, when I test publish and preview one of these forms I get a real
nasty-gram:
"FrontPage Run-Time Component Page. You have submitted a form or followed a
link to a page that requires a web server and the FrontPage Server Extensions
to function properly. This form or other FrontPage component will work
correctly if you publish this web to a web server that has the FrontPage
Server Extensions installed."
What the heck did I do wrong and please, how do I fix the problem?

This message comes from _derived/nortbots.htm
nortbots.htm only appears in four cases:
1) You are testing on a disc-based website, including a FrontPage
disc-based web that is being browsed through a web-server.
2) You are testing on a website that does not have server extensions
installed or running
3) The site (or form page) was FTPed from a disc-based web, or
published using a FTP address for the destination, or published to a
file system destination including a network share or UNC address (like
\\machinename\path\webname). Publish must be to a URL of the form
http://example.com
4) There is a bug associated with FrontPage98 which causes this
problem.

| ???????????
Sorry Ron, but don't understand a word you said.
When I first built my site 4 months ago everything worked fine, I could send
e-mail from any of the 5 feedback-type forms I had. Now, I tried to change a
misspelled word and everything dies. The site comes up, but no e-mail. I've
had to re-publish my site without the e-mail capability.
I have Yahoo! as my web host, and using their standard package. I have not
even come close to exceeding the limits for anything.
Can anyone supply me with some very basic help?

| That error message indicates that you used FTP (item 3 in my list) to
publish back to Yahoo, instead of publishing with FrontPage HTTP mode.
To make any FP form work with the extensions, you must use
File->Publish Web/Site and the destination address must be of the form
http://www.example.com, or whatever Yahoo say you must use to publish
with FrontPage. Do NOT use FTP, or a location with ftp in it.
By using FTP, you may have corrupted the extensions, which may have to
be repaired or re-installed.

| Okay, now I'm all confused. I looked at the destination for File->Publish
and it was http://giftsdistinct.com. I changed it to
http://www.giftsdistinct.com and as soon as I made the change I received an
error regarding the server returning a response FrontPage could not parse.
The message also said that http://www.giftsdistinct.com could not be opened.
I went to Explorer and typed http://www.giftsdistinct.com in the address bar
and the site came up. Now what did I screw up?

Your baseurl( look at the source of
http://giftsdistinct.com/postinfo.html) is http://giftsdistinct.com.
Use that when you publish to the site. Check with yahoo to confirm
they haven't change anything.
The [FrontPage Save Results Component] error usually means that the ISP
has not configured your site for email. They may be in the process of
upgrading.

| Thanks for the info. I checked and everything is the same as it was when the
e-mail worked.
Something happened, or I screwed something up and now I just can't figure
out how to get back to where I was.

| Hi Tim,
This all seems to spank of extensions or email transport. Maybe I missed
something here, but have you reinstalled the extensions. Not having Yahoo, I
am not sure if this is a Control Panel option.
Generally speaking I steer clear of hosting offering FrontPage support, as
this may not include actual Form Support. However if th forms work on Yahoo
previously and sytopped, then the extensions were working, Honestly, from the
look of the HTML, at least the fedback form isn't displaying
_derived/nortbots, it is displaying shtml as it should with a working form.
So, I am leaning toward the email transport being the problem as well.
Still it might not hurt to reinstall the extensions or have Yahoo do it for
you. Then republish using FP Publish Web as Ron pointed out.
Recalculating hyperlinks mith help also.
