Publishing Forms with FP 2003
|
|
|
| I have been trying for days to publish a simple web form created using the
Form in FP 2003. The web is being published from my hard drive to the server.
The server has the extensions installed, I have double checked and had the
Tech guys on the server end try and help with no satisfaction.
When I go to publish I get a box appear with the form name Test_Form.htm and
the message to say that:
"The following pages in your Web Site contain dynamic FrontPage components,
such as Search Form or a frontPage form Handler. They will not work because
the server you are publishing to does not have the FrontPage Server
Extensions or SharePoint Services installed."
They are installed. I can see the _vti_inf.html file; postinfo.html file;
gdform.asp file and the technical guys at Wild West are scratching their
heads because they have no idea why it will not work.
I am using ftp to publish because FP 2003 will not accept http as a way to
publish the web. The username and password are not acepted when I try it.
I have searched and read many threads and they all seem to be similar
problems but different.
I want the form to send an email with the form data to me and I want the
person who submits the form to be able to go to another site on submit.
Please help. Or I just bite the bullet and go and purchase Dream Weaver!!!

You *must* http publish to a web with the extensions installed, or the web
components will not work. FTP will corrupt the extensions, which will have
to be repaired or reinstalled and reconfigured.
Normally, a FTP password is different than the one used for http://
publishing. Ask your host what the correct password is supposed to be.

| Hi Tom, thanks for your prompt reply. I have attempted to upload using http
through FP by selecting the radio button at the top of the Remote Web Site
Properties box inside FP 2003. I then enter the domain name
http://newgenerationh.com and the user name: password: box comes up. I enter
the username and password issued by the host provider and the box disappears
for a few seconds and then comes back with an empty password field and does
not connect to the server.
I have spoken to the guys at Wild West domains, they are very clear that I
only need one password and will only issue one pass word to transfer files to
the Web Site.
So using ftp, the user name and pass word they issued works, only it reports
there are no extensions when publishing and the forms do not work. Using http
to publish does not even connect to the server and I cannot get another pass
word.
Is there some other way?
Thanks, John, Jakl,

| Have your host repair the FP SE from the FTP
Then open your remote site in FP 2003 using
File Open Site http://www.newgenerationh.com/
and reverse publish from remote (your PC) to local (online)
