Frontpage newbie - Extension confusion
|
|
|
| Hi all:
This is the first time I use frontpage. So I am not sure at all how
frontpage publish a website. I am tring to set up a page that's been
published by frontpage so I can use that for testing purpose. so the page
does not have to be fancy, just have to be published through FrontPage or
SharePoint Services.
What I did before is by going into IIS and create a website from there with
my own hostname and requests the page by: http://myhostname/index.htm. This
time I did the same thing I created a new website and gave it a hostname of
frontpg and some .htm files. And from Frontpage I opened these .htm pages.
then i clicked View->Remote web site->Remote Web Site Properties
in Remote Web Site Properties i selected FrontPage or SharePoint Services
and typed: http://frontpage/10.htm into the Remote Web site location: but
after i click OK. i got an error saying:
Unable to open 'http://frontpg/10.htm'.
Server error: The Web server at "http://frontpg" does not appear to have
windows sharepoint services installed.
and gave some possible causes, which contain FrontPoint server extension is
not installed. or proxy set up error, or server error
but i do have FP server extension installed and i don't have a proxy either,
don't think my server is bad.
Please help! I am really confused. So I am not suppose to set up the webpage
in IIS first?
If whatever I said here does not make sense, can someone please give me a
more complete and easy to follow steps for how to set up a simple page using
FP.
thanks a lot!
