publishing website question

| Hi, This one is hard for me to figure out without some help. It may be a
simple problem though.
I had to reformat my hard drive, and when I reinstalled Frontpage 2002 on my
pc I made a new website that was empty. I opened my live site in Frontpage,
then published the whole website to my empty website on my pc.
Here is the problem I can't figure out,
Front page reports says I have component errors, I have hit counters and
guest book on some of my pages. On the pages that have the guestbook and hit
counters it has " do not publish "
Does this mean that when I make changes to these pages on my pc, and I do
publish them from my pc to the live site that I will overwrite the guest book
and loose my guest book entry's on my live site?
Right now I am too scared to try and publish from my pc to the server, I do
not want to find an empty guest book, can I fix this ?
Any help would be appreciated, I have spent several weeks trying to find
info on what to do to correct the problem.

| In your local site (on your PC), the guestlog.htm and hit counter
files, which should all be in the_private folder, should be marked as
"Do not publish". In the file list or folder view these files will
have a red cross attached to their icons. If these are the pages you
are referring to, then publishing will not overwrite the corresponding
files on the remote (server) web site, provided you leave them as "Do
not publish".
If the guestbook itself (with the form) or the .htm pages that
actually have the hitcounter component on them are marked as "Do not
publish", then this is strange unless you marked them yourself.
What component errors are you referring to? A file marked as "Do not
publish" will not generate this error.
