Author How to configure FPSE for my default website...

Hi,
I have XP Pro, IIS 5.1 and FPSE2002 on my computer. Earlier I only had IIS
as a disc-based webserver but I want to add a access database so I have
removed all the files below c:\inetpub\wwwroot with a simple delete. After
that I have installed FPSE2002.

Now I got the same problem many others on this forum, I can't publish to the
webserver. I get "the folder c:\inetpub\wwwroot is contained by a
server-based web. To access this web you must use the http:// url for the
web-server"

So far so good. When I try to publish to http://localhost/ or to my
IP-address http://192.168.1.100/ or to my computername http://enzo/ I get "A
web does not exist at Http://......... Would you like FP to create a web at
that location?" I answer yes and get "Unable to open http://....."

After reading this forum and all the help you guys support us "not so
experienced" with, thanks in advance, I read a answer from Thomas A. Rowe
"You need to launch IIS MMC and apply the extensions to the default web, then
you would open the default web in FP, create your folder, then convert the
folder to subweb/subsite"

....and thats what I'm trying to do right now BUT when I right-click on my
Default Web Site, choose "All Tasks" and for example "check server extensions
2002" I've got an "You are not authorized to view this page". The same with
all the other choises too except for "Open with FrontPage 2002" wich work
after I have changed the Default Web Sites properties/home directory to allow
Directory browsing.

Do I have a problem with my rights? I'm the only user on this computer and
I'm in the administrators group.

And one thing more... If I can fix this how do I "open the default web in
FP, create your folder, then convert the folder to subweb/subsite" that
Thomas talks about. Open the default web in FP, no problem, but how to
"create your folder, then convert the folder to subweb/subsite"?

Thanks again.

Your simple delete has probably corrupted parts of IIS
- do not use windows explorer to modify anything in IIS (the file location c:\inetpub\wwwroot )
Start again
Login as an admin
In Add Remove Programs Window Components Remove IIS
Then do it again, this time adding IIS back
Next install the FP SE
Then open IIS MMC and apply the FP SE

I tried that but it didn't work so I installed everything on another computer
and it worked immediately. Time to throw my computer through the window :-(

Thanks
