Username does not work
|
|
| ArashB 2006-01-30, 2:48 am |
| I have extended a virtual directory and I have chosen the webserver's
administrator account as the admin of that website, but after extending when
I click on the "Administrator" link, it asks me for a username and password,
and no username and password works.
I receive "you are not authorized" error message all the time.
Does anyone know the solution?
Can I edit the rules.ini file in order to select the right user for the
account? If yes then where can I find the pattern of the file?

| This problem might have to do with "Authentication and access control" in IIS.
Go to the properties of your virtual directory in IIS Manager (right click
your directory to access Properties). Then go to Directory Security >
Authentication and access control > Authenticated Access. Choose any or all
of the access options. Your admin username and password should work (Note:
basic authentication is not recommended when connecting remotely since it
sends plain text passwords).
Hope this helps.

I'm having a similar issue but in my case the the administrator is able to
access the administration web site after a 30 minute interval. Have you
tried leaving the site for awhile and then accessing it later?

| The KB fix listed below worked for us. We never tested/experienced the 30
minute wait fix, but we were able to access if we changed the IIS
authentication to Basic. We didn't want to leave it at that though.
Be sure and abide by the Important Notice at the top about backing up your
registry first!
