server error attempting update-site connection

| Unable to open 'https://home.comcast.net/~user.name'.
Server error:
Possible causes: 1. Webserver may not have FP ext installed (it does); 2.
may be out of service (it's not); 3. (proxy settings (no proxy, direct
PC-to-cable-modem); 4. Error in web server (I can open the destination
address in IE).
I downloaded my website into FrontPage 2003 and made some minor edits to a
web page. Now I am trying to update the site using FrontPage Server
Extensions. The site is on Comcast; their status page shows FrontPage Server
Extensions is active for this site. I've got my site location entered as
specified by Comcast & Frontpage. (The only wrinkle I can see may be that my
username really does include a dot [yes, bob.davis3 is the actual username],
but neither Comcast nor Frontpage warn about this.)
Any ideas?

| Do you really mean to update thru the https? Check that comcast has
the extensions installed for https as well as http.

Unless you have asked them to enable a secure server you need to access
the site with http and not https.
