I use win2000, IIS 5 with SMTP enable and FPExt2002. In config of FPExt under
SMTP server, I try
1) localhost
2) 127.0.0.1
3) bidshunter.com(one of the domain name point to this web server)

but all get the error in event viewer:
"Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions:
http://truflight.com - Error #160003 Message: Error reading from SMTP
host 'bidshunter.com'. "

Any cue? thx

The extensions configuration will always fail if you use "localhost" The
SMTP server must be fully qualified, which effectively means must have a
dot in the name.
So 127.0.0.1 will work if the SMTP server is on the same server as the
website, otherwise point to a SMTP server elsewhere.

'bidshunter.com' may fail as a SMTP server if there is no SMTP server with
that name, or if it has been configured to refuse connections from anywhere
except bidshunter.com

Thx Ronx,
I have tried 127.0.0.1, but no luck. I even try to stop the policy to see if
there is any help, but still no luck.

If you are using a Windows server, then www.rxs-enterprises.org/fp/b/smtp
may help.
These pages are for Windows XP, but other Windows servers have similar
screens.

Thx Ronx,
I have followed the instruction on the web site you given. No more error
message occurs, and some email files appear in the Inetpub\Mailroot\Drop
folder, but don't receive any email when checking the outlook mailbox. Any
cue?

If I delete all Alias Domain and only have the default, the email file end up
in queue folder and keep trying to be sent.

It could be that the email destination is refusing to deal with your SMTP
server. Eventually you will see a message in the dropbox that will give
the reason for non-delivery, though this may take a day or three before
your SMTP server gives up trying.
If your server has an IP address located in a "dial-up" range, then many
other servers will refuse a connection.

Have you checked with your ISP as they must allow your SMTP server to sent mail on their network.

Thx again, Ronx.
How to find out if my IP is in Dail-Up range? I am not so sure what is
dail-up range means.

I have tried different email destination such as hotmail, and other domain
hosted by other mail server, but still end up in Drop folder. If delete all
alias domain in SMTP virtual server, then they end up in Queue folder.

I have even tried to granted all IP access right to see if any helps, but
still no difference.

I have tried filling in Masquerade domain, Smart host and not filling in,
also no difference.

Thx Thomas,
I host my web server in a data center. Under my same rack and same network,
there is another linux mail server belongs to my partner which functions
well. So I know my ISP alllows SMTP server to send mail on their network.

I used to set my FrontPage Extension Mail Setting to the linux's SMTP,
because it didn't set username and password. I couldn't find the option in
Mail Setting to set the username and password for SMTP server. However, that
mail server relay plenty of spam mails lately and the SMTP service has to be
stopped. That's why I need to use my local SMTP for FP Ext. Sorry for the
long story! Is there a way in FP Ext Mail Setting to set the username,
password for SMTP server?

Thx a lots!!!

I don't think so, however in the mail server see if you can set it to only except email from your
domain name / IP Address
