Can I publish if the server won't use extensions?

| Can I publish ANYTHING with FP? Server says NO to extensions!
I'd like to buy FP but... MS's Assistance Roadmap Training site says that my
server must have extensions installed, otherwise no publishing.
Many reviews say that websites created with FP can be published to any
server, even if it doesn't support the extensions, or that server-used FP
extensions are only necessary for a certain number of FP features.
My Server does not accept FP extensions, so... should I buy FP? If I use FP,
could I get ANYTHING published to/by my server? Thanks! Mike46

| Yes
Publish using FTP, but avoid any FrontPage components that require the
extensions, such as hit counter, custom link bars, slideshow Photo Gallery,
FP forms (your host should provide an alternative form handler, or support
a scripting language [asp, PHP, Perl/CGI etc] so you can write or find your
own form handler)
A full list of components to avoid that require FP extensions is at

| Hi Mike,
Ronx is right, you can definitely use FP without the need to install server
extension. FrontPage can use either FTP, HTTP or Webdav. Infact it has a
wizard to guide you through ( File -> New -> More web site templates )

| Ronx, thanks for the great, fast (and positive) answer. Looking at the site
you sent, I see that the lists there are re FrontPage 2002 (and 2000) SE
Components. Does the same apply exactly to FP 2003 as well?
Thanks again!

| There are no FP2003 extensions - FP2002 extensions are the latest, and
last. So the list applies to all versions of FrontPage, and its
successors.
