Hi Sukesh,

I you use the Business Rule Composer, there is an option to
test a policy. A trace file is generated whare you can
inspect which facts were asserted, which conditions were
evaluated to true, etc. I agree that this is all very
limited. There is no way (atleast not that I'm aware of) to
put a breakpoint on a rule statement. Or to inspect the
agenda of the inference engine, which rules are pending,
which rules are executed which rules failed.

However, all this beeing said. I don't expect a business
expert to debug the behaviour of an inference engine.
Although they still have to be able to inspect if the
business logic (a policy) contains any rule anomalies.
(logical contradictions, tautologies, redundancies, etc)
This can happen within a rule (what is rather easy to
detect) but this can also happen with other rules defined
in the policy.

Acumen Business has developed a utility to detect these
rule anomalies. It is also known as rule verification. You
can download the utility for free at
http:\\www.acumenbusiness.com and go to products and select
the policy verificator.
