Biztalk 2004 SQL Adapter only support For XML Auto?
|

| Hi, There:
I got the answer from some post, which answer by Microsoft support Rep. It said, Biztalk SQL Adapter only support For XML Auto. not For XML Explicit. We have Biztalk 2002 running with SQL SP using for xml explicit, which fix by downloading add on plugin f
rom Microsoft. We are now moving to 2004 version. Anybody know how to fix it for the new version.
If we can only use For XML Auto with SQL query. Any good way to map un-controlale auto generated level nest nodes schema to expected nested nodes schema?
Any help will be very appreviated! Thanks.

| Hi,
The BizTalk 2004 SQL Adapter only supports 'XML AUTO' and 'XML AUTO,
ELEMENTS'. However, BizTalk 2004 does have a very nice Mapper for mapping
one schema to another. This might work very well for you.
Thanks,
Darrin

| Darrin,
Are you 100% positive that Biztalk 2004 does not support "FOR XML
EXPLICIT"?
I'm reading help page:
ms-help://BTS_2004/Operations/htm/ebiz_prog_adapt_tbdk.htm
and it does not state any such limitations. Is the doc just wrong or vague
on this subject?
Yes, "for xml explicit" it has caused a problem so for now we have switched
to XML AUTO, but we have an upcoming requirement where it will be useful or
mandatory.

| Neal,
Yes, I am sure that BizTalk 2004 SQL Adapter is not supported when using
"FOR XML EXPLICIT."
If you look at
http://www.msdn.microsoft.com/libra...y/en-us/operati
ons/htm/ebiz_ops_adapt_sql_esig.asp it does explicitly say that "XML AUTO"
and "XML AUTO, ELEMENTS" are support and "XML RAW" is not supported, but it
does not say anything about "FOR XML EXPLICIT." I will try to get this
corrected in the next doc refresh.
I am sorry for the confusion here.
Thanks,
Darrin

| Well, VS.NET will generate error when tried to generate schema with SQL
Adapter with For XML Explicit.
But you can manually create schema "SQLService.xsd", it will work with SP
with For XML Explicit. My configuration and schema works well.

| I use for xml explcit in my SP which returns data to BizTalk's SQL Adapter
so it works. The schema could not be generated if I remember correctly, so
you have to make that yourself. I think I did some other similar thing with
for xml auto which could generate a schema and then altered that generated
schema afterwards and then changed the SP to use for xml explicit.
MS:
Perhaps you could fix this manual hack so we can "Do more with less" in the
future?
Best regards

| Thank you for your feedback.
We are aware that many people would like support of XML EXPLICIT and we are
looking at our options.
Currently, you many get this to work, but there are many cases where it
might not. And right now, we connot support you if you do use XML EXPLICIT.
Thanks,
Darrin
