Viewing HAT from other server

| Hi,
We don't have access to our production environment so we are'nt able to
access HAT and trace Errors directly. Is there a way to access HAT remotely
from another server?
Regards,
Birgitta

| There is. Install the administration part of BizTalk server (you can select
HAT and a few other things only).
This requires however that the user is part of the "BizTalk Server
Administrators" group (on the BizTalk server or the domain depending on your
setup).
While installing you point this machine towards the BizTalk server to
configure access.
After this you can also point the HAT towards another BizTalk server than
the one you chose during setup.
I would have loved to see HAT as a simple web application that you could
reach throug a browser. Maybe something for next version
regards

| If you have already installed BizTalk administration, you cannot check
another sever using HAT. But if you install BizTalk admin again you can
specify the server you want to check.

cpmsftngxa10.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGXA03.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGP08.phx.gbl!tk2msftngp13

| Well ... it works for me. But only with data from the BizTalkDtaDB database.
No live "operations" data.
I have two installs, a full one and a admin (HAT part only), ondifferent
machines and both setups can be pointed at other dtadb databases where I can
see the tracking of those other biztalk server setups.
Might not be by design, but it works :o)
Tools/preferences - Archived data, the name of the DB server and the
coresponding DtaDB. And if needed, the analysis server and corresponding
db.

| Basically, when the BizTalk Tools are installed, the user has to configure
HAT to work against a single group (Management DB). To use HAT with
another group, the user must reinstall BizTalk tools – on another machine,
if desired – and configure it to work against that group.

| My problem is that my pc and the server are on different networks, ie there
is a firewall between us. Is there any documentation on which ports to open
to gain access to HAT on the server when it is situated on a different
network?

| There is a work around for this problem. It involves a Registry edit. Please
note the dangers of editing the Registry.
1. Save your Registry setting into a file using Regedit export.
2. Stop all Biztalk related services BTNTSVCs etc and Enterprise SSO
services on the local box
3. On the local box using regedit change the key values to the match the
BizTalk Group name , Remote Machine Server Name and database name.
Here are the Keys you have to change
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\BizTalk
Server\3.0\Administration\BizTalkGroupName
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\BizTalk
Server\3.0\Administration\MgmtDBServer
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\BizTalk
Server\3.0\Administration\MgmtDBName
4, Now open up the HAT and you will be now viewing the remote system's
Health and Activity.
5. Using your windows authentication you can control the ability to suspend,
resume and terminate etc.
