I get the following error messages in the Event log:

1. Event Type: Error
Event Source: BizTalk Server 2004
Event Category: BizTalk Server 2004
Event ID: 5641
Date: 23/06/2004
Time: 9:17:15 PM
User: N/A
Computer: <computer>
Description:
The Messaging Engine failed to retrieve the configuration from the
database.

2. Event Type: Warning
Event Source: ENTSSO
Event Category: Enterprise Single Sign-On
Event ID: 10536
Date: 23/06/2004
Time: 9:18:15 PM
User: N/A
Computer: <computer>
Description:
SSO AUDIT
Function: GetConfigInfo
Tracking ID: 2f6f629c-2e47-411a-ace7-1ce7da308d22
Client Computer: <computer>.domain (BTSNTSvc.exe:2432)
Client User: <computer>\Administrator
Application Name: {97778DA1-0B71-4679-9743-E5F741FBAC53}
Error Code: 0x80002918, No secrets were found in the registry of the
master secret server. Use the configuration tools to generate a master
secret.

The computer is running Windows XP service pack 1a.
Also if I try and run ssoconfig I get the error:

ERROR: 0x80070005 : Access is denied.

Furthermore receive locations return the following error:

Could not retrive transport type data from Receive Location 'abc' from
config store. Access is denied.

Has anyone got any ideas where to look. I am thinking it may be related to a
password change I made to the administrator account (that the services run
under).

Brian,

it seems like you have to reinstall your ESSO secret key. Hope you have a
backup?
If not, you'll have to recreate your configuration again...

Best regards,
Christof

Is your user account a member of SSO Administrators group?

Brilliant thanks Everett and Christof,

After adding in the necessary identities in the SSO Administrators group I
was able to restore the secret key which I had backup up. Access is restored
and there are no errors.
