Author ADODB.Stream patch for IE breaks BTS 2002 Document Tracking

I installed the latest IE patch for the ADODB.Stream hole and now when I open Document Tracking and try and view a document's data I get a runtime error:

"Line: 87
Error: ActiveX component can't create object: 'ADODB.Stream'"

I verified this by opening the document data on an unpatched machine, installed the ADODB.Stream patch on that machine and was able to reproduce the problem. (I reproduced this on both XP and 2000 Advanced Server).

Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone from Microsoft care to comment?

Can you please open a new support case for this. The following web site
gives you different options of product support:
http://support.microsoft.com/

Thanks,

The problem that I have with this is that I initially have to "pay" to initiate the case. Although my MSDN incidents are always returned to me, I think it's absolutely ridiculous that I have to go through this every time I report a bug. I would think Mi
crosoft would encourage an easy path for reporting bugs in its software, especially those caused because of an inadequately regression tested pushed out by Microsoft itself.

I've just uninstalled the patch and will go 'unpatched' for the time being.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I will investigate how Microsoft PSS handle
this kind of issue and post the result here.

Microsoft PSS refunds money if the case was because of a problem in the
product.

Anyway I would like to take care of your issue. Can you provide me your
contact information? Do not post your contact information here. Send your
contact information to me by e-mail. My e-mail is
shjin@online.microsoft.com. Please remove "online." from the email address
when you send me a email message. I added it to block spam software which
grabs email addresses from newsgroup messages.

That's the same thing we did, we are running unpatched on
production and test.

Microsoft is aware of this issue and working on it. KB870669 protects
ADODB.Stream from running it in Internet Explorer, but BizTalk Server 2002
Document Tracking feature was developed to rely on ADODB.Stream to display
tracked documents.

If the machine is not connected to the Internet, it is recommended to
remove the QFE. If the machine is connected to the Internet, you still need
to remove the QFE until Microsoft releases new patch that solves this
issue, but you should be careful with the virus called Download.Ject (It is
called JS_JECT.A or other names). Visiting a malicious web page with java
script file embedded (Trojan script) may cause downloading some executable
in your local machine.
