Hello,

I am not that advanced in the flat file schema creation world as i have
had the luxury of working with pure XML over the last several years.

I currently have a flat file schema with a root node. The root is set
as pipe delimited. The root has a child record (child) that is set as
positional and which contains all the data elements.

There are several elements at the end of each child record that are
often blank when output from the sending application.

There is one element in that group that when blank signals that all the
rest of the elements are going to be blank. if it is, the row
delimeter should appear instead and all following empty elements should
be ignored.

Is this something i can set at the flat file schema level? If so, what
setting am i looking for?

Thank you in advance for you help,
Ryan G.

Hi Ryan,

I'm not sure about your particular problem but a good resource when
developing Flat File Schemas is:

Good Luck!!

Cheers,

Ryan,

If you post a sample of your flat-file at microsoft.public.biztalk.nonxml
there are several flat-file experts (Dave Downing [MSFT]) that can help. I'd
be glad to take a look also. Unfortunately, I've had a lot of flat-file
experience.

Thank you for the help. I posted a better description of the problem
with a sample of the schema at:
