Author FTP receive adapter doesn't delete file

I have a Receive Port using an FTP adapter and a custom pipeline with a flat
file disassembler, to read files from a remote FTP server and activate
orchestrations.
If the input file is correct (the flat file disassembler converts it to xml
successfully) the input file is correctly deleted from the FTP site.
If the input file is not valid (doesn't match the xsd definition), the input
file is not deleted from the input directory, so the FTP adapter continues
to
read it at each polling interval.
Why this happen? If I use a FILE receive adapter (with the same pipeline)
the input file is always deleted, even if it is not valid.

thx
