BAS TPM sticky data
|
|
|
| a question for BAS experts ...
Where is the data stored?? After a complete re-install (or 2) deleting all
databases (TPM etc) my BASSite seems to remember the trading partners that
were there before. It even remembers my previous BizTalk registration. You
cant delete them because when you submit to the Web Service it denies they
exist (presumablty checks the TPM databae and/or BizTalk.
TPM Admin/Resync seems to clean up ok.

My guess is that it is stored in the Sharepoint content database for the
site, which by default is installed in an MSDE database

| Hi Mark,
There is some overlap in the information stored in both the TPM and
SharePoint databases. The documentation topic "Synchronizing the BAS
Windows SharePoint Site with the TPM Database" states:
"The Business Activity Services (BAS) Windows® SharePoint® site contains
information replicated from the Trading Partner Management (TPM) database.
For example, trading partner names and status (deployed or undeployed) and
agreement names and status appear on the site.
The BAS Windows SharePoint site may become out of date-for example, if you
update the TPM database when Internet Information Services (IIS) is stopped.
An example of out-of-date data is when you have created an agreement, the
agreement is active in the TPM database, you have activated it, and the site
displays it as inactive.
You use the administration commands on the BAS Windows SharePoint site to
synchronize the BAS Windows SharePoint database with the TPM database. The
synchronization process refreshes the site with the data from the TPM
database."
However, if you've completely removed the TPM database then I'm guessing any
kind of synchronization attempt would likely fail. Even after
unconfiguration, if you look at the contents of the "webs" table in the WSS
content database you'll probably notice the BAS site is still defined.
There are 2 options to get rid of the site; the less severe:
1. Go to the Admin page for the site (i.e.
http://localhost/sites/BASSite/_lay...3/webadmin.aspx to get there
directly)
2. Under "Management and Statistics" select "Delete this site". (Note: I
got a 404 doing this, but this seems to be as it deleted the site then tried
to take me back to the admin page for the site! I am running beta software
though - so you may not get this).
3. Check the site is gone by either looking in the "web" table again, or
going to the top level site administration (e.g.
http://localhost/sites/_layouts/1033/webadmin.aspx ) and selecting "View
site hierarchy".
The more severe (but probably easier and more certain method) is to unextend
the the IIS site, delete the content database, then re-extend it. However,
if you've other WSS sites other than BAS on the box then this wouldn't be
desireable (as you'd lose your other sites too).
Let me know if the above works for you.

| Bill, Tomas,
thanks
I've now managed to clean up the visible appearnace of the BAS Web.
I seem to have got into a mess after installing SP1. There are some files in
...\Mcrosoft Shared\Enterprise Servers\Commerce MscsCore... The BAS TPM
Site depends upon this old commerce legacy stuff but SP1 appears to just blow
it away.
any idea why it would do that?
thks

| Hi Mark,
Sorry for the delay in replying - it's been one of those weeks (or two).
I've no idea why SP1 would 'blow away' the Commerce stuff. Can you be more
specific? What exactly do you mean by 'blow away'? Has it deleted
files/folder? Removed web applications? etc... Where there any errors in
the log file during installation?
