Author When does message mapping take place?

I am learning about BizTalk and am still working to understand where the
message mapping from one shcema to another takes place. Does it happen
after the message has gone thru the receive pipeline and just before it goes
to the message box? Advice or links or graphics would be appreciated in my
quest to understand this. Thanks.

On the "inbound" side you can add a map to your receive port which does the
mapping just after the last pipeline stag and before it gets submitted to
the message box. On the "oubound" side you can add a map to your send port
and the mapping is done right before the first pipeline stage.
