Author FTP adapter problem

Hi!

We have big problems with FTP adapter in a production environment.

BizTalk 2004 is installed on one server.

Ftp site is defined with ftp user isolation set on "Isolate users".

There are two reiceive functions defined for user ftpAlpha with file masks
set to dp*.seq and da*.seq. For two or three days everything works fine.
Receive functions pick up files OK but on the next day receive function
stops issuing requests for for dp*.seq files (we have checked the receive
port ftp log files) and the files with dp*.seq are left on FTP. No warrnings
or errors are reported in Event viewer. Then we have to restart host under
which receive functions are running and then the problem seems to clear for
a period of two or three days and then the problem re-ocurres.

On onother receive function (interval set to 8 seconds) defind for different
user we have problem that a file is sometimes (in peak times - 100 uploaded
files in 2 minutes) locked in the temporary directory. Then receive function
stops working and the incomming ftp uploaded files are pilling up so there
is no orcestration processing.

Is there anyone expiriencing the same sort of problems?

Thanks in advance

You might want to take a look at
http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?id=898106
(and consult PSS for the associated fix.)

Hi!

Thanks for the quick reply but the fix doesn't relate to our problem with
ftp RL because we don't use dynamic send ports as stated in the article
"This problem may occur when you are using dynamic send ports and when the
OutboundTransportLocation property changes from message to message."

The problem is that FTP Receive location stops receiving files. After
checking the "biztalk ftp adapter log" we descovered that ftp adapter stops
issuing "LIST *.*" commands.
The second thing we noticed is that sometimes uploaded file gets "stucked"
on ftp because no DELE comand was issued by ftp adapter and again files
start to pile up.

Hi Wurox,

we have the same problem. It does not happen as frequently as yours, but we
still have to restart the service form time to time.

If I hear about any solution, I will post it here.

Kind regards
Maran
