Is there a way to get back the biztalk project from it's assembly?

Not that I am aware of.
You can recover schemas, map Xslts from deployed assemblies.
Use regsvr32 to register C:\Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server
2006\Developer Tools\BtsAsmExt.dll
This will add a Biztalk Server Assemblies node to My Computer in Windows
Explorer. You can then browse the contents of the assembly but you will
probably need to rebuild the project from scratch.
