BizTalk server reboots when BizTalk services are restarted

| It is the strangest thing. We are running BizTalk on two servers and
both servers have this behavior. When we attempt to restart the
BizTalk Services, the server will just reboot.
Any thoughts out there?
Thanks

| Hi Matt,
I have had this too, on my development box. It does not do a
shutdown-restart, the PC sudenly reboots as if the power was cut, then
reconnected. Is that the same thing you get? I though it was just my box. It
does not hapen every time, just ocaisonally, when I have loads of unsaved
work :-(.

| We are having this problem as well. Microsoft has seen our memory dumps and
claims it is hardware failure. This proves this to be false. We had Covast
installed, but took it off. Have either of you 2 put COvast on?

| Hi,
[vbcol=seagreen]
No, (I've no idea what it is). I'm running pretty standard Dev box:
HP d530 CMT
3 GHz
1 Gig Ram
Windows XP
I just got another shutdown this morning, I usualy get one every couple of
weeks when restarting the BTSNT service, not every time, and not all with the
same project deployed. (I probably restart BTS about 20 times a day, as it's
in my NANT deploy scripts).
I have only had the probem on this box, no problems on my laptop, my home
box, or any of our test servers.
Hope this helps.
/Alan

| Thnaks!
We have the following installed on a Windows 2003 std edition server:
SQL 2000
VS.Net
Biztalk 2004
SAP .Net Connector
MS SAP adapter
We still have the reboot after a day or two of use.
Any relations?
We have a case opened with MS. I will let you know, if it is solved.
FYI... Covast is a EDI adapter for Biztalk.

| I am facing the same problem with my dev workstation. Its a 1 Gig box with
twin P4 3GHz. More specifically the reboot happens during the STOPPING of the
service.

| Yes. That is exactly what is happening. The server reboots during a manual
stop of the service.

| Does the above mentioned hotfix resolve the issue of the STOP error when you
manually restart Biztalk?
Also, has there been any word on the issue with the BTS service hogging
memory?
Thanks,
Kevin

| The hotfix and MSDN note will fix the STOP or blue screen issues when
restarting the BTS service. We have been able to identify the MS SAP adapter
2.0 as the source of the memory leak. We temporarly have solved the issue by
writing the iDOC's to files and using the SAP gui to import the iDOC. This
is a manual process and hope to rebuild another biztalk server with the SQL
database on a seperate server. We will be testing soon and will let you
know. After several attempts to engage Microsoft support we were never able
to solve the memory leak issue without bypassing the MS SAP adapter.
