BTS 2004 and Memory
|
|
| Todd Sussman 2005-01-11, 2:46 am |
| Our systems team was explaining to me that it is possible to set
Windows 2003, to use 3GB of memory. I also believe that BTS 2004 only
uses 2GB of Memory. If I set Windows 2003 to use 3GB, will BTS take
advantage of this at all?
TIA,
Todd

| Hi,
The /3GB switch changes the way the 4GB virtual address space is split up.
Instead of splitting it as 2GB of user mode virtual address space and 2GB
of kernel mode virtual address space, the split is 3GB of user mode virtual
address space and 1GB of kernel mode virtual address space.
So, if without a 3GB switch if you see lot of paging happening on the
server, in that case adding a 3GB switch might help.
You can monitor the memory usage using performance counters so that you
know what is really going on.
Thanks,
Dilip
