Hello, a customer is sending us an xml file that has elements with the same
name and in the same scope like example below:

<Root>
<Records>
<Record>
</Table>
</Record>
<Record>
</Field>
</Table1>
<Record>
</Table3>
</Table4>
</Record>
</Records>
</Root>
In BizTalk Server 2004 I am trying to create a schema that looks exactly
like this and I keep getting the error: "Elements with the same name and in
the same scope must have the same type" Help, I really need to create this
schema with BizTalk Server 2004.

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you are referring to your Record element, it seems you'll need to create
one repeating Record element, and then structure the inner content using the
Choice Group type.

Hi mj,

Please try using the generating schema function of biztalk 2004 to create
the schema draft:

In Solution Explorer, right-click a BizTalk project, point to Add, and then
click Add Generated Items.

In the Add Generated Items - <BizTalk ProjectName> dialog box, in the
Templates section, click Generate Schemas, and then click Open.

In the Generate Schemas dialog box, in the Document type drop-down list,
select XDR Schema, DTD Schema, or Well-Formed XML.

If you see either DTD (Not Loaded) or Well-Formed XML (Not Loaded) in the
drop-down list, select the appropriate document type anyway, and you will
be guided through the process of installing the missing DLL. Then repeat
these steps.

In the Generate Schemas dialog box, click Browse, locate the file you want
to import, and then click OK. The file you locate must match the document
type you selected in the previous step.
A new schema is generated from the specified file, using the same name as
that file with the .xsd extension, and opened in BizTalk Editor.

Please let me know if issue persists.
