Unable to register BizTalk Server in BAS Site
|
|
| Robert Slaney 2006-07-03, 6:23 pm |
| When I attempt to register my BizTalk server in the BAS STS site, I get the
following error displayed
Error occurred in this operation. See your administrator for support.
In the event log, the following is logged
Event Type: Error
Event Source: KwTpm
Event Category: None
Event ID: 601
User: N/A
Description:
The security validation for this page is invalid. Click Back in your Web
browser, refresh the page, and try your operation again.
The entire STS site is setup to only use integrated Security, and I am using
an Admin context ( both local admin, and STS admin )
Any suggestions ?

| Robert,
Is your user also a member of the BizTalk BAS Administrators group? You have
to be a member of this group to register a server with BAS.

| Hi Peter,
Yes, the user is a member of the local BizTalk BAS Administrators group. (
as well as the BAS STS SiteOwner and a local Admin )
Cheers...

| Usually this error happens when you keep your browser open for a long time
and the credentials time-out. Did you try closing the browser and then
re-open and try to register a BizTalk Server again?
Also if you just added yourself to the BAS Admin group then you need to
logoff before this membership takes effect.

| Thanks for the reply.
However, I had already restarted the Win2k3 server, but I did so again. I'm
still getting the same error.

| Can you enable tracing and send the trace? Here's info on how to enable
tracing
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...-us/operations/
htm/ebiz_ops_bas_admin_xvau.asp
You need to enable tracing for the following components: StsHandlers,
StsWebService, TpMgmtWS

| Hi Adrian.
I enabled tracing for the 3 components, and did an IISRESET.
Only one generated a trace file, STSHandlers.
I have copied the output below.
Cheers...

| The form digest validation is failing
(Microsoft.SharePoint.Utilities.SPUtility.ValidateFormDigest()). The
failure happens in SharePoint code. In the web.config file found in
C:\Inetpub\SITEFOLDER (probably C:\Inetpub\wwwRoot, if you installed
SharePoint on the default web site) do you have this element?
<machineKey validationKey="ABABABAB....." decryptionKey="DBDBDBDB....."
validation="SHA1"/>

| Hi Adrian. Thanks for the reply.
My web.config does contain this entry.
<machineKey validationKey="6BE2..." decryptionKey="E017..."
validation="SHA1" />
It lives in the system.web node.
In relation to the other post, and as indicated in my original post, the
site is set to only use integrated security. Unless the individual sites in
the STS site can be configured to use different security model, I would
assume that the BAS portal is only integratedsecuruty.
As a side note, STS it is NOT installed in the default website, if that
makes any difference.

| Can you check the "Virtual server general settings" -> "Web Page Security
Validation" settings of the virtual server extended with SharePoint where
you have installed the BAS site? The default values should be "Security
Validation is: On", Security Validation Expires after "30 minutes".
If this is a test machine where security is not that much of a concern, you
can try to disable the Security Validation or increase the number of
minutes after which it times out.
Regarding your question, yes the WSS sites have their own authentication
settings. Can you check the BAS site authentication settings? They are
under Site Settings-> Go to Site Administration -> Manage Anonymous Access.
The default value are:
- Anonymous Users can access "Nothing".
- Allow all authenticated users to access site? "No"

| Hi Adrian.
The settings for Security validation was the default, and the authentication
for the BAS site for anonymous was also default.
Turning off the Security Verification allowed my to Register the BizTalk
server (yay!)
Given this is a development system, that should allow me to continue.
If you want/need more information to work out the underlying cause, please
reply.
Thank you.
