BTS2004 with MSDE 2000
|
|
| Heinz Wehner 2004-04-12, 11:52 am |
| I've installed a German BTS2004 and noticed that some messages in
the system event log indicate that certain tools are required that can
only be found in full-blown versions of SQL Server 2000 but not in
MSDE 2000 which is what I have.
Does anybody know if it is possible to do the required configuration
of BTS2004 by executing the appropriate .sql scripts with an
equivalent SQL Server 2000 administration tool like DbaMgr2k?
One would just need to know exactly which .sql scripts to run.

| Heinz,
According to Microsoft, BTS2004 requires SQL Server 2000 and is not
supported on MSDE.

| John,
I know that but it is also clear that this is artificial. If you read
the documented differences between MSDE 2000 and SQL Server 2000,
then this becomes quite obvious. So such an artificial limitation can
likely be overcome provided you know which .sql configuration scripts
to execute in which order. This could eventually be deduced from the
installation scripts but I don't know how to do that.
May be somebody else here on this newsgroup can help.
