Hi,
I'm getting the following error while installing BizTalk Server 2004 on Win
XP SP2.
"Error 5008 Registration of the BizTalk WMI provider failed Return code 424"

I'm running into this problem in my home PC.
I successfully installed and configured BT2004 in my work WinXP SP1 machine
last week.

I almost went thru all the posts that relate to similar issues (mostly
post-install) and tried them. But nothing helped me in getting the
installation past this point.

Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bala

Some things to try:
- make sure that winmgmt service is started properly
- try to reset the WMI repository:
1. Stop the Winmgmt service
2. Move all the files under
<windows>\system32\wbem\Repository to a temp folder
3. Restart the Winmgmt service
4. WMI will recreate the Repository, and
recreate the files under <windows>\system32\wbem\Repository.
- check the PATH variable make sure it includes the wbem folder

Thank you,

Thanks Liliana for your reply . I tried recreating the repository directory
and installing BTS 2004. I got the same error and the setup rolled-back. Teh
setup Could not register the BTSWMIProvider.dll. So I loaded
BTSWMIProvider.dll in Dependancy Walker. The only dll that is missing in my
system is MSJava.dll. I get an error in Dependancy Walker. Let me refresh my
problem here - I have WinXP Professional with SP2 at my home and BTS2004
installation fails. I successfully installed BTS2004 in my work PC running
WinXP Professional SP1. Now I know for sure the BTSWMIProvider.dll is not
registering bcos MSJava.dll is missing. How do I get MSJava.dll? How do I
install MSJava.dll?
Thanks in advance,
Bala

Is MSJava.dll missing on your machine? Check for it under
<windows>\system32 directory.

If it's missed, can you try copying it from one of your colleagues who have
it? or download it (check under
http://www.microsoft.com/java/download.htm)?
If the dll is present on your machine, try register it using the following
command - start>run>regsvr32 msjava.dll.

The dll was missing so I copied the Dll from my friends laptop to my System32
folder.

I still got the same error. :-(

Please check the PATH variable into the system environment variables and
make sure it points to the correct path to your <windows>\system32
directory.

More questions:
- Do you have a dual boot machine (2 operating systems)?
- Are you trying to use a virtual machine? This is not supported
(http://support.microsoft.com/?id=842301)

Thanks,
-Liliana

Liliana,
Path variable has <windows>\System32.
My machine is not a dualboot machine.
I'm not running virtual machine.

Thanks,
Bala

Liliana - Its a 9mb file. I've sent it to Jow Eldridge of MS already who is
also working. ( for some reason I've to post twice in this forum to get a
reply :-)). I'll zip it and email you the log.

I've received the setup log. Thanks!
Question: are you trying installing via Terminal Server or Remote Desktop?
I've seen some issues trying to install using Terminal Server...
Thanks,

Log shows the following property
RemoteAdminTS = 1

It looks like you are trying to install from Terminal Server. Please try
using Remote Desktop instead.
Thank you,

Liliana - I'm not using any terminal services or remote service for
installing. My computer is a dektop computer (Dell Dimension 8100) running
WinXP. I login as admin and install everything myself. Its is not connected
to any network whatsoever. I do not understand why the log file would say
that.

Hpe this helps.

Ok...
Try this: http://blogs.msdn.com/scottwoo/arch.../19/135453.aspx It
is about setting an EnableAuthEpResolution registry key, under the
\\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windo
ws NT\RPC key.
Reboot and restart installation. Please let me know if it solves the
problem.
Hope this will work

Liliana - I used the entried below to register. Still no use, I still get
the same error.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

& #91;HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies
\Microsoft\Windows NT\RPC]
"EnableAuthEpResolution"=dword:00000001

Bala,

I've received same error, while installing BizTalk 2004 Dev.

Disable Window Firewall Completely, which comes with XP SP2.

Try again.

Hope this will work

Small correction.

I diable XP firewall and Anti Virus, prior installing or running
configuration.

Make sure you disconnect from Internet, prior disabling Firewall.

Information as is, no gurantee.
