Server is being installed under a custom account
called "biztalk" . I have granted: log on as service and
act as operating system . I have also added the account to
the BT administrators group as well as the machine
administrators account.

I still get the following error message:

Product: Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002 -- Error
1923.Service 'BizTalk Messaging Service' (BTSSvc) could
not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient
privileges to install system services.

any ideas would be appriciated

Hi,
If you install BTS under a custom account you need to perform this steps:
1- change the Biztalk COM+ packages to login using this account (Biztalk,
xlan, xlang pool)
2- Start the biztalk service using this account (under services change the
indentity info to the biztalk account instead the suystem account)
3- If SQL is in another machine, and you install BTS using administrator or
another account, maybe the system account, the biztalk acount need
privilegues under the 4 BTS databases.

MAybe this info may will help you,,,,,
