Configuration problem

| Hi
I have the following configuration:
- A server Windows 2000 with SQL Server 2000
- A server Windows 2003 for BizTalk Server 2004
I'd like to know where I have to install SQLXML3.0
package?
Also, when I want to configure the BizTalk server, if I'm
logged like a domain user who's also a local
administrator on BizTalk machine and on SQL Server
machine, an error occurs when I want to set the BizTalk
Base EDI Service Account. The error is: Access is denied.
I'm using Global User Groups.
But, if I'm logged like a domain administrator in the
BizTalk computer, the configuration will succeed.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
Doru

On the BizTalk CD's root, there is a file called Inatallation Guide.htm. This file contains all the required software
per feature. Search for "Performing a Custom Installation". the table indicates that SQLXML 3.0 SP2 is required
by the engine, which is a run-time component. So you need SQLXML 3.0 SP2 to be setup on your Windows 2003
server (the one which runs BizTalk).
You can also see this table at : http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/e....asp?frame=true

Is the BizTalk machine a domain controller? If it is, then you want to review the common problems when installing
BizTalk on a domain controller (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/e....asp?frame=true).
The following page outlines the security requirements when you are installing/configuring:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/e....asp?frame=true
Basically, you must be an administrator on the local machine when installing and configuring BizTalk 2004.
You must be logged on as a member of the domain if you are using domain accounts or groups in your configuration.
You should review the "Security Requirements" section of the previous page and ensure that you match the requirements.
Thanks.

| Hi Gilles,
Thank you for your help!
Before installing BizTalk 2003, I reviewed all security
requirements and I installed all prerequisites.
The BizTalk server is not a domain controller and I use
only domain accounts for the services.
I use the same account for all services, so my question
is why I have the error only when I'm trying to configure
BizTalk Base EDI Service Account?

| Hello,
[...]
>The BizTalk server is not a domain controller and I use only domain accounts for the services.
I assume you are logged on ads a member of the domain (and are admin on the box) when you
run the configuration wizard.
>I use the same account for all services, so my question is why I have the error only when I'm trying to configure
>BizTalk Base EDI Service Account?
There are some pre-requisites for the EDI Base adapter:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/e....asp?frame=true
Basically, "When using the Configuration Wizard, type the same "Log on as" account settings for the BizTalk Server Base EDI service and
BizTalk Server Host service." (there are other thigns you might want to review on this page).
Moreover, the user running the Base EDI Adapter needs to have adequate privileges. Those are in the documentation
under Biztalk Server 2004 Configuration/Configuring Biztalk Server/Establishing Secure
Group Accounts/Using Domain groups
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

| Hello,
I checked the pre-requisites for the EDI Base adapter and
everything is ok.
I have a problem with BizTalk Base EDI service. It is
disabled, and when I try to start this service I have the
following error in Event Viewer:
Could not connect EDI subsystem (StartDatabase
returned -2) to Database.
Thanks,
Doru
