| While configuring BizTalk2004 on my XP Pro machine, I am receiving the
message.

I've been told in a previous post to this group to give "NETWORK
SERVICE" full control of this directory. Here are my two problems
with this suggestion:
1) When I go to this folder, I can't grant permissions to it because
it is a folder that is used by the Operating System.
2) What is meant by "NETWORK SERVICE"? There is no user by that name.
If it's a WIndows Service, which one is it (there are several
services that have that as part of their name) and how do I grant a
"service" access to a folder?
Thanks in advance for all replies.

| I think the directory you're supposed to grant access to is
%systemroot%\temp, not the full path(config\system~1...).
NETWORK SERVICE is a built in account like "SYSTEM" and "LOCAL SERVICE",
etc. They won't be in your user list, but they'll be viewable if you
browse for them when adding users to a group.

| Paul,
Thank you for your reply.
I still have a problem granting full control to "Network Service" to
the %systemroot%\temp directory. I am trying to configure BTS2004 on
an XP Pro machine that is NOT part of a domain.
Unlike Windows 2003 Server where I have it successfully installed and
configured, it does not have the security tab that allows for specific
users to be granted certain privileges.
Maybe my problem is that BTS2004 cannot be installed and configured on
a machine that is not part of a domain. I may have missed that in the
installation requirements documentation somewhere.
Any ideas?

| You're right. There's no workaround that I know of. Did you install SP2?
If so, do recall the install order?(OS, VS, SQL, SQL SP3, etc...?)
