Hello everybody,

i am a student who is currently working on his diploma with the
subject "E-Business with Navision Attain and MS BizTalk Server".
Having installed and configured everything correctly so that B2B
document transfer can be executed, there is still one question left:
Is BizTalk able to inform me on errors? I mean, is there a possibility
to make the BizTalk Server send an e-mail to the admin when for
example a message is placed in the suspended queue due to any error?
Unfortunately, i am not too much into the technical stuff. Do i need
Exchange Server to achieve that or is Windows 2000 Server able to do
so? Or anything else? Does anyone have any experience on that?

Thanks a lot for your help!
Bye,

Hi Christian,

BizTalk supports the scenario you describe via the MOM (Microsoft
Operations Manager) Management Pack that you can download free from the
microsoft.com BizTalk site. Remember, MOM is a separate product used for
enterprise monitoring and has rules for sending Alerts (E-mails, paging,
etc) to admins when certains conditions occur.

If you think deploying MOM this is too much of a hassle for your project,
you can try building a small VBS script that monitors WMI instance
suspended events and sends e-mail using the Collaborative Data Objects for
Windows (CDONT, that comes with Windows. All you will need is a SMTP server
to accept your emails)

Good luck with your project!
Cristi
