While all the documentation I've been able to find on
installing BTS2004 refers to installing Windows Sharepoint
Services (WSS), the Sharepoint Technologies Resource Kit
says that in order to use BTS integration you need to use
Sharepoint Portal Services, which is different/seperate
from WSS. I just want to use BTS2004 with the HIPAA and
HL7 accelerators; I have no use for Sharepoint except that
it's required if you want Business Activity Services.

Which of the two technologies (WSS or SPS) should I be
installing?

Thanks,

If you do not plan on using BAS (Business Activity Services) the you do not have to install Sharepoint
(either WSS or SPS). To the best of my knowledge, HIPAA/HL& accelerators do not use Sharepoint,
so you could run setup and do a custom setup without BAS.

SPS is built on top of WSS. BAS can work with WSS or SPS.
When used with SPS, it will be able to "talk" only to WSS so it will not be possible to have a BAS site in
an area.

Again, if you do not use BAS, then you do not need Sharepoint (WSS or SPS).

Thanks,
-Gilles.
