| Greetings:
I am wondering if anyone could make it work in a development
enviroment on single machine? Background:
XP + SP2, basically fresh install with whatever
updates are coming via automatic updates.
Standalone system on a workgroup (at home in fact), wireless
connection to Inet via USR router.
SQL Server developer eidtion.
Tried BT enterprise and later developer with the same results.
Install goes normally all the way to configuring SSO. Then
error 0x800706BA. If I click "Retry" it fails with another error
message and service becomes disabled. clicking "Cancel" at
any time causes ENTSSO service to be removed.
Install log indicates Config error 4.
Installing SSO separately goes normally, but any command
via SSOConfig utility causes "RPC Server unavailable".
The ENSSO service is running under local account that is
part of all BT groups.
I tried bunch of registry and policy hacks discussed on the Net,
changing etc\hosts. Nothing works, RPC server still unavailable.
I also disabled any kind of MSDTC/RPC/DCOM security I was
able to find. Event log does indicate any problem.
Now I guess question is: is it supposed to work on a single
non-domain machine at all?
If yes, what RPC server is unavailable and why would it be?
Best regards,
Vlad
