Problem installing Biztalk databases on separate servers

| I've been attempting to install Biztalk 2004 where the databases are
installed on a separate machine. I get the following error message:
Failed to deploy BizTalk system assembly "E:\Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk
Server 2004\Microsoft.BizTalk.GlobalPropertySchemas.dll".
Unspecified exception: An error occurred while enlisting in a distributed
transaction.
I'm sure it is an issue with User Groups/Accounts.
So, if I have two servers A and B, where A is the Biztalk server and B is
the SQL Server containing the Biztalk databases.
Do I have to manually add User Groups to server A?
Do I have to manually add User Groups to server B?
Should I be adding the following groups: BizTalk Application Users, BizTalk
Isolated Host Users, BizTalk Server Administrators, EDI Subsystem Users, SSO
Administrators, and SSO Affiliate Administrators on both servers?
Which users, if any, should I add to these groups?
Here is what I have tried:
1. I added the 6 user groups mentioned above to both servers.
2. I added the user used as the service identity to all the groups mentioned
above, except the BizTalk Server Administrators, and SSO Affiliate
Administrators groups.
Basically, I tried to mimic the groups/users from a single server
installation.
Can anyone provide any help/insight. How about a Biztalk 2004 multi-server
installation guide for Dummies?
Thanks,

| Hi Randy,
This usually indicates a problem talking to the DTC on the SQL Server. See
KB article http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;817064
for how/where to enable this on the SQL box.
If any of your machines will be in separate domains to the SQL Server, then
please be aware of
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;839187 also.

| The SQL Server server is a Windows 2000 server. How do I enable this on the
Windows 2000 SQL Server server?

| I am getting the same message but get more details in the message:
Failed to deploy BizTalk system assembly "E:\Program Files\Microsoft
BizTalk Server 2004\Microsoft.BizTalk.GlobalP=ADropertySchemas.dll".
A MS DTC problem prevented the connection to the Configuration
Database. The transaction has already been aborted.
Cannot open database BizTalkMgmtDb on server SQLSVR.
I checked to see if network DTC access was enabled and it was. I have
also created the groups mentioned above on the SQLSVR machine. I am
also running as domain admin.
Any recommendations?

| Hi,
Are the BizTalk and SQL machines having to talk to each other through a
firewall at all? This sounds like a DTC communication issue. Even if not,
it would be worth using the procedure outlined in
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;306843 to ensure DTC
communication between the machines is OK.
Note that for DTC to work, I believe BOTH machines have to be able to ping
each other and resolve each others NETBIOS names to IP addresses.
Let me know how this goes.
Thanks and regards,
