BTS2006: EDI Subsystem Error
|
|

| Hi!
I have installed BizTalk 2006 on standalone XP SP2 system. With default
configuration I get the following message
Error encountered: ERROR (120) :
An error occurred in the File System connector. Check the details.Cant
make a connection to \\NOTEBOOK\EDIDocsHome\Documents\PickupE
DI.
Errormessage: Unknown errorFoldername:
\\NOTEBOOK\EDIDocsHome\Documents\PickupE
DI, Errormessage: Unknown error
every second in the eventlog.
It helps to give the "EDI Subsystem Users" group list directory rights
(in addition to the read and write rights set by the configuration
program) on C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All
Users\Anwendungsdaten\Microsoft\BizTalk Server 2006\EDI\SubSystem
The documentation says:
Note If you create a new file share for the Documents Home directory
you must grant the <Domain>\EDI Subsystem Users group full control to
the specified file share. If the <Domain>\EDI Subsystem Users group does
not have "Full Control" access to the file share at the file system and
share level then configuration of the EDI feature will fail.
Is this a general problem of the BizTalk installer/configurator or
caused by special circumstances on my system?
Thanks
Martin

| Hello Martin,
Both the account used by the BizTalk Base EDI Service and the account used
by the host for the EDI Adapter handlers must have full control to the
EDIDocumentsHome share at both the file and share levels. This is not
specific to your machine, this is a requirement for any BizTalk Server 2006
configuration. Since both of these accounts are members of the EDI
Subsystem Users group then it is recommended that the permissions be
applied at the group level.

Trace

Yes, but as the share is created by BizTalk basic configuration I would
have thought that the rights where automatically set by the
configuration tool. As I had some other issues with the setup it might
be, that the program normally set it correct. Otherwise a hint in the
setup instructions would have been very helpful.

| Hello Martin,
If you accept the default settings for the EDIDocsHome share when
configuring EDI, the configuration program does the following:
1. Creates a share named EDIDocsHome that maps to the C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Biztalk Server
2006\EDI\SubSystem directory on the BizTalk Server that the configuration
program is running on.
2. Grants the Everyone group full control to the share at the share level.
3. Grants the Windows group that is designated as the BizTalk Base EDI
Users Group (by default EDI Subsystem Users) full control to the share at
the file level.
If you manually create the EDIDocsHome share before running the
configuration program then you must also set the appropriate permissions at
the share and file levels.
Regards,
Trace
