I suggest you use tcptrace to find out http://www.pocketsoap.com/tcptrace/
tcp trace listens on a given port and forwards everything it gets on that
port to a given server and port

you set two tcptrace windows: one listening on port 21 and the other one
listening on port 20

you will see all the communications between the adapter and the ftp server
( off course you need to config your rec function or the ftp aic so that it
goes through the tcptrace.

This is how I troubleshooted a couple ofproblem I got with the ftp adapter.

Hope this helps,
D.

Are you using BizTalk 2002? In that case, then FTP Adapter comes with
a trace-utility - start there.

Thanks Jan.

I tried the trace utility, but the log file is binary.
How can I read it? All the documentation says is "When
tracing is complete, copy the output log into an e-mail
and send it to a Microsoft Product Support Specialist for
diagnosis."

That's too expensive for a problem like this.

Thanks,
Steve

Right click the session, stop trace, Format the trace then view the trace.
