I have a high volume port that uses an AIC that
periodcally fails with COM+ error saying
application has become unstable. This places the document
in the retry queue where it eventually is successfully
sent. What causes this? These documents are time
sensitive and these delays are a problem. Is there a
limit to a COM+ applications instances?

Any insight would be appreciated

Thanks,
Sean

Hi,

Most likely the custom AIC you are ussing has an issue that causes the COM+
host process to shut down. This has nothing to do with BizTalk, but there
are a number of ways you can address it, by specifying the Application
Recycling properties for that COM+ application (in the Component Services
MMC snap-in)

Call limit: The COM+ host will be recycled after the specified number of
calls. Try this one first.
Memory limit: may be useful if you can find a memory pattern when your
error appears.
Time limit: you can recycle the COM+ process every X minutes.

Hope this helps,
Cristi
