Author is biztalk worthy to adapt?

Hi All,
Please help me in this scenerio, I posted this request on
the microsoft.public.biztalk.General, but didnot get much
response, as it is urgent , so please respond..

I'm sorry that you need to read following lengthly
description, which you can consider as a preface of my
scenerio.
We are in process of change in environment for adapting
organization-wise a messaging framework,preferabling
Biztalk. The purpose is to delivery a Rapid, cost-
effective, stable software environment to gain more out of
our financial business in less time. We are currently
using .NET Framework for all our existing and forthcoming
applications
targeting Business Process automation.. and shall
continue to use the same for all other solutions.
Along with .NET , we have Various mission critical
stable applications based on PowerBuilder, Java and legacy
mainframe CICS, Bloomberg etc.
Some where I read "BizTalk is usually used
for "transactional" data while SQL DTS is used for data
warehouse
ETL(extraction, transformation and loading)" , which
make me more confused because ETL is not always applicable
with
historical data.
Here is main scenerio, where we need your help with your
precious guidance as well as suggestion,
We are already using SQL Data Transformation Services
for ETL (extract ,trasform and Load) for one
Application, which fetch/trasform/load data from
bloomberg (in the sky) to other applications.
We found the DTS as interesting for this solution
(though we are considering it as a pilot one)..
following is summary of its advantages
(We are using SQL Server 2000 , doesnot have a plan to
have "Yukon" for another 6 months )
a) It Provides rapid ETL development with rich
Designer ,mapper,drag drop etc..
b) Configuration of DTS is simpler as compared
c) It provides maintainable DEV/TEST/QA/PRODUCTION
Environment
d) It is hidden inside sql server.Probably production
support group need not even be aware of this ??
only DBA team need to know about it.
e) DTS has no extra cost --assuming we own the sqlserver
license (which we aleady had)
f) We can use .NET assemblies in DTS and Vice Versa.
g) DTS doesnot require High visiblity from management,as
it is buried in SQL Server.
Now, I evaluated Biztalk 2004, which exploits magic of
XML and reduced XML though its awesome power of Adapters
with music
of its orchestration. I find it as a nice and powerful
product.

Advantages of Biztalk (from prospect of our environment)
1. If we use biztalk, this experience could put us
months ahead of successfully creating a eai architecture
framework
and implementing the same.
2. Biztalk is integrated with visual studio, nant (build
tool), ...
3. Much of our business logic could be, if we do it
right, in our exsting and forthcoming .net components.
4. Integration through SSO yields higher security on
Windows LAN/WAN
5. Adapter for financial services 1.0 (

My queries to you :

a) So , now with Biztalk, we will need to have a new team
of developers,
a. Experience for developers
b. Experience for IT guys
c. Experience for dba
d. Experience for production support
is it possible to implement EAI/B2B with minimal
developer team?
b) A training is also need to production support team for
biztalk, as This would be a new part of the production
environment ?
In contrast, DTS is hidden inside sql server. Probably
production support group need not even be aware of
this??? DBA might know but ...?
c) Biztalk Failover handling
i. Partner and standard edition of BTS 2004 do not
support failover, which is built into the enterprise
version (which costs hundreds of thousands
at least). Should we go with Manual Failover ?
d) If we decide not to go with biztalk
Alternatives are tibco, ...???? But as per
industry, "With BizTalk, Microsoft competes against
software makers IBM, Oracle, Tibco, Vitria, WebMethods,
SeeBeyond and others in the growing market for
integration software. intersystems.com,
sonicsoftware.com, "
e) DTS is, from our enterprise standpoint, a dead end.
The work either will have to be redone or else we will
have to live with this one-off
for a long time.
b. If we move away from biztalk, what are we left with?
How do we get rid of it?
So, I can realize that ,using biztalk, is like throwing a
boulder into a pond. The ripples and waves can affect
many things in the pond and many things alongside it.
DTS on the other hand is like throwing a pebble.

Please help me what should I do in this regards..
I know I'm taking your precious time, but this is an
kind and urgent request to help me in this situation.

- with Best regards
Joy
